It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Tom Webb's death on December 7, 2019. Tom was a long-time friend and staff member of the Oakland Catholic Worker. He was a gifted fundraiser and on numerous occasions, Tom's fundraising single-handedly kept the doors of the Oakland Catholic Worker open to the local community.

Here's is Tom's self-authored biography from Oakland Voices:

Since 1980 I have pursued graduate studies at the University of San Francisco (Theology, 1982), Duquesne University (Formative Spirituality 1994) and Catholic Theological Union (Pastoral Studies 2003). I have spent nearly 20 years living and working in the San Francisco Bay area as a Catholic high school teacher, lay pastoral associate and non-profit administrator. Additionally I have been involved in faith-based justice and peace and reconciliation efforts, including serving on the national council of Pax Christi USA. After spending nearly 13 years outside the Bay Area, I have now returned and serve on the staff of the Oakland Catholic Worker.

Tom was a gifted writer and his works were featured in numerous local and national publications (in the future, we will publish some of Tom's writings here on our website). Tom is known throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for his work on behalf of social justice.

We send our deep sympathy to all of Tom's family, especially his siblings Lynnette. Bernadette, Marian, Jerry, Jennifer, and Michael.

You can see Tom's obituary and memorial information on legacy.com. If you were unable to attend Tom's funeral service at St. Columba (Oakland) on December 28, you can view Mark Cowan's photos and video (thank you, Mark). Special thanks to Margaret Roncalli of St. Columba's for so lovingly shepherding all of us through this process. (We can't help but brag that Margaret was also a past board member at the Oakland Catholic Worker!)

Finally, we are trying to support Tom's family by raising money for Tom's funeral and burial expenses. If you'd like to help, please go to our GoFundMe site. Thank you!

Tomas Webb, presente!
